Cumberland County Man Wins $2 Million Playing Powerball

Alan Duxbury played his usual numbers, which are inspired by birthdays in his family, for the March 1 Powerball drawing. He also purchased the $1 Power Play® option. Only days after his ticket matched all five numbers drawn, the Carlisle man visited Lottery headquarters to claim his $2 million prize. Alan always buys his tickets at Smoker’s Express on South Spring Garden Street in Carlisle. “I usually play Mega Millions or Powerball – and only one drawing at a time – but this day for whatever reason I played both games and for two consecutive draws,” Alan said. “It was the second Powerball drawing that won.” Mary, pictured with her husband, jokingly asked Alan if he held the winning ticket after reading a news article about a $2 million Powerball ticket being sold locally. Alan looked at the winning numbers on a computer and immediately knew they looked familiar. “When you play the Lottery, you always wonder how you’ll react – it’s just stunning,” Alan said, describing what it feels like to win millions of dollars. Alan plans to use his prize money to grow his bed-and-breakfast business and will also invest. Congratulations, Alan!

See which Texas energy companies dominate Pennsylvania drilling

A majority of the most active energy companies in Pennsylvania are actually based out of Texas.
The natural gas boom took off in Texas more than five years ago and has proven transformative for many Houston and Dallas-area companies.  One of the major ongoing unconventional oil and gas plays using hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is the Marcellus shale, much of which is in Pennsylvania.
Twelve of the top 20 well producers in Pennsylvania, particularly the booming Marcellus shale, either call Texas home or have a major Houston presence, according to data compiled by the Pittsburgh Business Times.
Click through the slideshow to see the top Texas energy companies producing in the Pennsylvania shale plays.
The surge in domestic natural gas production is big in Texas with the active Eagle Ford Shale formation and the Permian Basin, but Texas energy companies are active in other states as well, such as Pennsylvania.
The Marcellus shale is named for the small village of Marcellus, New York. The marine sedimentary rock formation runs across southwestern New York and into northern and western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, through western Maryland and throughout most of West Virginia.
The Marcellus bedrock in eastern Pennsylvania extends across the Delaware River into the edge of New Jersey.

'The Pope's Harley Davidson motorcycle'

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was once given to Pope Francis by the manufacturer is to go on sale next month in Paris, a British auction house says.
The 1,585cc Dyna Super Glide was given given to the pope in June to mark the 110th anniversary of the U.S. motorbike maker, London-based auctioneer Bonhams said.
The Harley Davidson will be auctioned at the Grand Palais in Paris as part of Bonham’s Les Grandes Marques du Monde sale.
With an estimated worth of around 12,000-15,000 euros ($16,400-$20,500), the motorcycle was signed on the tank by His Holiness at a special ceremony at the Vatican in November.
A Harley Davidson leather jacket also signed by the pope will be sold immediately after the motorcycle.
The proceeds will go towards the renovation of the charity’s Don Luigi di Liegro hostel and soup kitchen, based in Rome’s central Termini rail station.
